July 21, 200519 yr Ya and my cockatiel harldy goes into my mouth he just u know picks at stuff with his beak be all its doign it the front of the beak is hittign my braces (Laughing out loud)
July 21, 200519 yr My lorikeet literally puts her head into my sons mouth. He does try to stop her. Now if she's on his shoulder and he speaks, he turns his head away from her. (Laughing out loud). she just loves him to pieces
July 21, 200519 yr I'd definitely put a stop to letting him pick at your braces. That's direct contact with the germs that are harmful. Far worse than giving a bird a kiss which, no matter what you do, carries at least some extent of risk. Letting him pick at your braces even occasionally is like saying "here are the germs, have at them!"
July 21, 200519 yr wow thats freaky i hope the parrot never gets hurt lrikeet are very cute and colorful birds (Laughing out loud)
July 21, 200519 yr He's 14, so I feel pretty sure that he won't hurt her by being thoughtless. And if you've ever had a lorikeet in your mouth (I have - yuk), you'd know how yucky it is. Lorikeets are nectar eaters, and they actualy stick their tongues out to pick up their food (they don't eat seed). They stick their tongue out and taste everything - toys the works. Imagine a bird in your mouth, sticking it's tongue out! Yuk. We try to avoid it like the plague. Mind you I think it's hilarious when it' s not happening to me.
July 21, 200519 yr It's from the liquid in their diets. I know one owner puts plastic up on the walls near his bird's cage to make things easier.
July 21, 200519 yr That is actually really quite interesting and the plastic must look ugly but imagine have splatter poo all ofver your walls and imagine if there is a budgie cage next to it it would be like a missle attack!
July 21, 200519 yr Oh yeh, the poo!! They aim and fire! (Laughing out loud). She can get anything she aims for (usually a person, or the dog) for a distance of at least 18 inches! And then she laughs hysterically! Her food costs $25.00 for 2kg- so not funny when she decides she doesn't like where you placed her food container, and manages to take off the biggest, heaviest, food container, and throw the contents everywhere - plus she needs nectar, flowers, lots of fruit! But, she is so lively and mischevious that I wouldn't be without her. Edited July 21, 200519 yr by lin

July 22, 200519 yr I do not understand the relationship between the gherkin vegetable and the Gherkin (the gay bird). Maybe Bea can explain to me in a little more detail as to how she picked up on this quality in Gherkin??!!?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I just decided that seeing as Gherkins are so yummy i would call one of my budgies Gherkin, i also have one called Pickle. They match!
July 22, 200519 yr (Laughing out loud) hey does anyone know the name of the fruit that would go well with the color of budgies
