Posted July 17, 200519 yr Today i noticed our 4-5 week old albino budgie on the floor of the aviary (possably overnight); we took it inside to warm up in our hands, but have since returned it to the nesting box in the aviary, only to find the mother going into the box to visit but not feed it (from whayt we've noticed, anyway) also the mother keeps getting on top of the nest box and lifts the door up and down, is this normal? From what we've read, apparently the father should have taken over the feeding role; which he had, untill the baby fell out of the nest. We have also noticed the father feeding the mother, but not the baby bird. Is this normal? Also, is there any special things i will need to do for our baby albino budgie thats different to a normal budgie? Will try and post some pics. of it!!!
July 17, 200519 yr At 4-5 weeks old, the baby will be learning to eat seed and "people food". The male should still be feeding him, maybe he still is but you haven't seen it. You can introduce whatever will be his normal diet to him. Millet is a softer seed that is easier for them to learn to hull, and broccoli, baby spinach, apple, or lightly cooked foods will be easy for him to learn to eat too. Are there other babies still in the nest box?
