Advice please - Mum is tired

Featured Replies

The babies are now 3 weeks old and are big. Infact just a bit bigger then mum. Shes tired and sits on the perch like shes had enough while dad pushes her to go and feed the babies.

Should I take the babies out and hand feed?

This is the first babies shes had.

gee at three weeks Dad should be taking over a lot of the feeding.

If you fear for the safety and lives of the babies then take over from the parents.

Dad is going in and out of the nesting box - and the babies look okay. To be honest I didnt know that dad did any of the feeding. So I might just sit back and watch for a while.

Thanks

that's okay.

Just keep an close eye on them. I hope it all works out well in the end. How many babies do you have?

They should be alright. Dad will probably start feeding them more and more from now on. Just keep an eye on their crops and make sure they're full. :)

how are things going noe Barnsey?

Well its like mum has sat back put her feet up and said to dad okay they are all yours!!

We have 2 babies and yep dad is now being bossed around by mum and hes in and out of the nest feeding!

Shes looking much better now instead of sitting on the floor of the cage shes now cleaning herself, doing her hair and nails and flying around.

Getting off the subject - I had a phone call today asking if I would like a cockateil as it had flew into someones house.

Its sitting on my shoulder as tame as tame!

Me too...

Right now i am actually on the search for the perfect tiel.. hope i find him/her soon... getting impatiant. and that empty cage is always sooooooooo tempting to fill with budgies and scratch the whole tiel idea... but trying to hold out on that idea. hardest thing i have ever had to try to not do.
