Hi everyone

 

Milo has developped tiny black spots on the top of his head - little bits of hair are sticking up with black spots on the top - does anyone know what this is? At first he just had a couple but now there are quite a few.

how old is he? Is he beginning a molt?

sounds like pin feathers to me, they are just new feathers coming through.

Do they look like this?

 

 

 

If so, they are just new feathers. They are encased in a keratin sheath that protects them until they are fully grown out, then the sheath is shed. It is normal.

Yes!!! - That's them, Great, nothing to worry about then - phew
