Posted July 12, 200519 yr I have a hen who has a good waddle going. She appears to actually have a yellow mass between her legs (inside her). She is swollen there too. I oiled her vent yesterday. She does not appear stressed or ill. She is being aggressive with the other hens. She has decided to make a hollowed out log her place. I do not have any breeding boxes in the aviary at the moment but this hen seems determined to make anything a nest. She is lively and interested in crooning with her mate, she evenlet him mount her again today, but it looks terrible, this yellowy looking mass inside her. sorry no pics - no camera
July 12, 200519 yr as it is a yellow mass it sounds like a prolapse you can push it back but i would strongly recomend a vet (just in case it isnt)
July 12, 200519 yr Sounds like a trip to the vet is in order. What you have spoke about doesn't sound normal at all. Hath she said it was inside her so I don't think a prolapse sounds right. The egg could have broken inside her or it might not me breeding related at all, sometimes tumours look yellow.
July 16, 200519 yr I think bambi it sounds like a rupture! Does it feel spongy? It could be a rupture or a tumor. Don't breed with her. Take her to an avain vet. I have had ruptures before and they have a normal life without breeding It will get worse if you try to breed. :bluebudgie:
July 16, 200519 yr She is alright, the cow. She was just hanging onto this egg it seems. She is fine now. And out being a hussy again. :bluebudgie: I did notice she was yellowy and funny looking once before but she was much bigger this time. I have not seen her be that big before, I thought she might have had a broken egg inside her because she was fighting with another hen. Thanks heaps for your answers.
