Posted July 11, 200519 yr A few months ago I finally got a bigger cage (it was $250), and while I was at the store I got a new budgie. Its too young to tell what gender it is, so I'm just calling him a boy for now. His name is Sunny. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/Meg...14/24153503.jpg Sunny: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/Meg...14/24153611.jpg More pics: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/Meg...14/24153931.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/Meg...14/24153535.jpg I have 4 birds in there now, and I was wondering if I could have any more? Not sure if it is big enough. Here is Storm: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/Meg...14/24153702.jpg Jasper: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/Meg...14/24153741.jpg and Buddy: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/Meg...14/24153828.jpg And while I'm talking about birds.... Here's a picture of a bird that has young in the birdhouse we set up a LONG time ago, we didn't think anything still nested in there! I don't know what the bird is, my dad took the picture. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a137/Meg...14/25102833.jpg Sorry about the size of the pics! Edited July 15, 200519 yr by Rainbow
July 12, 200519 yr That's a great cage. That type is getting really popular with budgie owners. If my birds would cooperate, I'd get them something like that as well. (One refuses to live with the others which calls for several seperate cages.) I wouldn't add more budgies. Those four have plenty of space now but adding more would start to crowd things a bit and sort of defeat the purpose of having a large cage.
July 12, 200519 yr Image pixel dimensions not to exceed 450x450 pixels! please resize your pics or they will be removed thanks
July 13, 200519 yr We usually have woodpeckers nesting in our large maple tree and have never had a problem with noise...so far. (Laughing out loud). Oh...and I have no clue how to resize pics...I don't have any kind of program (except paint which comes with every computer) so if somebody could do that for me that would be great...if nobody can, then I'll just ask somebody to delete this thread because it would be pointless without the pics.
July 14, 200519 yr llovley birds! awesome cage! thats the kinda cage i need for the new Lorikeet were getting! i wouldnt put more then 6 budgies in that cage You can use the basic program PAINT! that all coputers come with to resize photos.. i just cantr help myself here but i have the same stereo CD player thinger you have there (Laughing out loud) Edited July 14, 200519 yr by BrokenDreamz
July 15, 200519 yr i think the bird nesting in there is a woodpecker....good luck with the noise.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh that little beak can't be a woodpecker's... That's a Swallow. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> swallows have a red patch on their head. it looks more like a house martin or a swift because it doesnt have any red on it.
July 15, 200519 yr its a house martin i would say. swifts cannot land like that and they are all black.
July 15, 200519 yr swifts have a white patch under the chin but i think it is a house martin too, i looked it up in my birds in your garden book. ive never had housemartins in my garden before, they are very pretty. i always thought they were bigger than they actually are.
July 15, 200519 yr we have them every year. we have 4 mud nests in the eves of our house! i love them. we also have a couple of swift that nest in our roof. You can hear them all in the morning crying for their food! ill rey and get some pictures pixie. the nests are a work of art. swifts have very small legs and cannot land like the bird in the picture. they sort of have to crash land so to speak. July 15, 200519 yr how cool, the only things that live in our roof is sparrows, hundreds and hundreds of sparrows - there is a whole colony along the flat part above my window. i never knew that about swifts, thanks budge you learn something new everyday
July 15, 200519 yr (Laughing out loud) i didn't know that either about swifts. Its funnt to see them approach thier 'nest' whicjh is justt a gap in the roof. They just fly at great speed at the house sometimes several times and then collide into the hole. Its facinating to watch and they scream whilst in the sky which i love.
July 15, 200519 yr do the same swifts and house martins or their young come back to the same nest area in your garden every year like swallows do?
July 15, 200519 yr yes. we have them coming back to the same nest every year. Edited July 15, 200519 yr by budgeover
July 15, 200519 yr gee that cage looks VERY familar I think as a max ten budgies would fit, but 6 budige would be perfect. (that's how many i want in my cage ) Is Sunny all yellow? I can't quite tell that in the pics, in some it look as if he as a greem rump but it might just be the trick of the light. I think he is a he the cere is a pinky colour right now.
July 25, 200519 yr I think I may get 1 or 2 more budgies, only if I see one that I just HAVE to get, (Laughing out loud) (which will happen, because all budgies are beautiful!). Sunny is mostly yellow but his feathers are starting to turn a little bit green. I thought Jasper was a girl but now her cere is turning blue... She and Buddy are a pair (always snuggling and hanging out together) so I just assumed she was female. (Laughing out loud).
