SOME TIPS

if you have a bird that is a bit of a 'biter', the last thing yu should do is yell when it bites! Apparently, the bird will think yu are enjoying this 'game', because in the wild when they are playing and socialising, the squawks are often a sign of fun and enjoyment! So the louder you yell, the more your bird will think you are loving it! Also, letting your bird sit on your shoulder makes him feel very high in the pecking order, because again, in the wild, the higher up the tree the bird is, the more dominant he is. You must keep control of that dominance, by making him sit on your forarm, or your lap if you are sat down. he will see YOU as the boss then. (however, i do still let my budgie sit on my shoulder cos he's still below mouth level, but i refuse to let him sit on my head)

And, again with biting, if yur bird has a tendancy to do this when youre holding him, quietly but immediately place him low down. repeat this if he climbs back up! show him who's top bird. But never ever shout at him, punish him physically or give up and him and neglect him thinking he'll learn his lesson. he wont. he'll simply fade into a shadow of himself and have a very sad little heart.

i have used the blow in the face method and it has worked for me.

i havent heard of that method budgieteen! how does it work please? is it just a gentle blow full on in the face?

when they bite you you do a short hardish blow in the face, or tap the side of the cage this will make them feel they should not bite, they start to associate biting with an unpleasent experiance

it worked for me i now have a mean bad tempered bite free hen

thats good to know budgieteen, i like it cos its a method of discipline that wont hurt the little fellow. Teapot very rarely bites, just now and again if he's got a grump on him he'll have a little badtempered jab, but it is rare. heheh, i tell him he'll get a smacked bottom :(

ha ha i have never been bit by turk he is too soft

he lets pudding walk all over him

It doesn't work for me (the face blowing technique).

They just kept biting. But ive started to be able to stand the bite, when i was younger i'd just yell out 'f*ck'. But now it doesn't even feel like a pinch unless they get a part of my hand where its....i guess webbed, as in the skin between each finger.

& Kaye please dont critisise other people. well not sure if it was critisising but just dont laugh at people(unless of course its a joke or sumthing funny).

Smokey is vicious now since he defends his area in the breeding cage

i wasn't laughing at her i was laughin at what she was laughin at-the smacked bottom thing

Clint, I took it as he meant it, and I'm sure other people did. Budgieteen was saying haha right after a comical post.

alrighty...."She"

oh i started an argumant

look sorry if i did something wrong and i didn't mean to okay.

this is off topic so i think we should drop it now.

Yeah, this is "What not to do w/ your budgie", not "What not to post" Haha, oh well.

Now where were we? Blowing for biting, and threats of "smacked bottoms"?

(Laughing out loud), yea. :(Laughing out loud):

i knew what budgieteen meant x and its fine :D

i find if teapot does seem to have got out of the wrong side of his nest, if i pop him down on the floor for a minute, he is the most loving budgie again when i lift him back up :D

my hen always wakes up on the wrong side of the perch

but the bl;owing thing has helped alot like she never bites and is a bit nicer.

budgies aren't stupid

(Laughing out loud) :(

The blowing technique has ALWAYS worked 4 me, but Chico NEVER bit me he's ssssssssssoooooooooooooo sweet, Yoli is the 1 who bites me!

That's pretty wierd though, cuz I've had Yoli longer guess it does depend on the budgie!
