Budgie being sick

Hi Folks

Late this afternoon, he went all quiet and fluffed up. None of his usual toys or treats get any reaction from him.

I've noticed in the last hour, although he has been eating a little bit of honey stick (normally, he doesn't touch them for ages and then eats the whole lot in a just a few sittings) he seems to have been sick a few times.

He hasn't had anything strange to eat - so I just don't know what can have caused it.

Any ideas???

if it was that he was actually being sick rather than reguritating seed it could be any number of things. some could be quite serious, some not so serious but either way he needs to go to the vet for an examination and perhaps some tests to find out what is wrong.

i dont think budgies are usually sick because of something they have eaten.

Thanks for that Pixie.

Would you believe it - an hour later he was out of the cage, eating, chirping and basically making up for lost time!

Will see how he is in the morning but I think maybe he pigged out on something and made himself ill.

hmmm, i dont know. i mean not many animals are sick because they have eaten too much of a particular food. i mean rabbits are not sick because one day they ate too much grass.

if he had a certain vegetable that he doesnt usually eat then it is a possibility eg cabbage leaves can become toxic if too much is consumed and may have ill effects, same as parsley and a few other fruits and veggies.

if he just had what he has every day or regularly then i would be sceptical though and would take him to the vet for a check anyway.
