Posted June 22, 200519 yr Egg Binding This is the first time I have had this happen One of my female birds died I found the egg attached to the base of the bird all covered in blood I removed it by soaking the bird in warm water But after that I left it in a separate cage next morning it was dead What I wanted to know was is the egg binding caused by breeding in the winter or just poor nutrition or a sick bird to start with. :dbb1:
June 22, 200519 yr as long as the temps dont fall below 5 c i dont think it was breeding in winter was she a old bird i find birds over 3 years are more prone to this cod liver oil added to the seed is said to stop this
June 22, 200519 yr Yes she was 3 years old this is where I got all my royal blues from Just hope I can get some more Poor thing she must have been in so much pain So cod-liver oil will do the trick okay thanks for the advice
