Posted June 14, 200520 yr Actually, my daughter met Sunny Blue when I brought him home. But I told her she had to wait till he got settled before she could interact with him. She's been a good girl and has left the birdie alone although she is facinated by him. One morning she even gave him fresh water before I was out of bed. I was kind of shocked when she told me she did it, but she said, "There was black stuff in his water." *grin* I'm guessing some budgie poo. I was proud of her for taking the initiative and impressed that she had paid attention to how to get the water dish out! I did tell her that from now on she needed to check with me first though before feeding or watering the bird. Anyway... Last night I took hold of her hand and brought it into the cage with mine to officially introduce the two. My daughter kept pulling her hand back or curling her finger up. She thought his claws looked scarey, so finally we gave up on getting him on her finger, although he actually went to step on it once. This morning she told me she wanted to try again. So we did and Sunshine stepped on foot on her finger, but her finger is so small that he really didn't have room to put the other one on there comfortably. But it was still exciting and she learned first hand that his claws weren't going to poke into her skin. Of course, this being MY 5 year old, she looks at me and says, "After school I want to try again Mommy. And this time I'll use *this* finger!" She waved the finger she would use.... (stop and think about which is the longest).... :glare: Risha
June 14, 200520 yr She has no idea what it means to put up her middle finger... she just knew I said the bird didn't have room on her first finger so she is going to try the longer finger next time... *grin* I just groaned inwardly, imagining her telling her teacher at school today that she is going to get the bird to sit on that finger... Ironic we call it "flipping the bird" here.... Risha
June 15, 200520 yr well no reports of her flipping anyone the bird at school... thank goodness. But today, she took a bowl of worms and dirt to school. (The teacher told them they could catch bugs and bring them in... when she asked her this morning what kind of bugs she brought and my darling angel said "worms", the teacher looked at me funny and said "ewwww". ) *GRIN* Risha
