may get a second bird

Flighted budgies are those who haven't had their wings clipped, yes??

yes :(

After reading your last post Telmadee (as using the quoting tool is too confusing for me!) I'm going to go to my nana's house tomorrow and insist she takes out some of the stuff inside her budgie cage. Its cramped to death for that poor bird but, no offence to her or others, shes old and stubborn and I've had difficulty getting through to her about her bird. I will be forceful! (Laughing out loud)!

I think the best thing to do is to get a cage large enough to have a few cool toys, a few nice perches and still room for the bird to be able to flap about and not bump into anything. If the problem is that the cage is too small for a few toys and perches, the cage needs to be replaced rather than depriving the budgie of a variety of things to perch on and play with.

Eterri, I agree, but its difficult to get through to my Nana shes quite stuck in her ways (Laughing out loud).

The cage she had was bigger than the current one but shes chose to use the one she has now because it 'looks more attractive'.

Actually I think I've just been knocked to my senses because when her bird does exit the cage, it is a very poor flier and just falls to the floor really which isn't fair at all I know! I'll see if she still has the larger cage and persuade her to use it if possible.

I was wondering, although this maybe a little off-topic, does anyone know how much a bird should weigh and what would be overweight? Her budgie is chunkier than mine (and mine is 30g I have digital scales) how would I know if it was overweight?

i wasnt trying to be rude or disrespectful to people wit toys in their birds cages, i agree the poor little things do need things to occupy them as they are very inquisitive, i now when i go in the inside of my enclosure the birds fly straight in to see what im doing (Laughing out loud), but thanks for agreeing with the point i made nash :)

if your nans budgies have large heads and are quite large in comparison to yours they are probably english budgies. the correct weight for an english budgie is 50g. both my budgies are about the right wieght for their size. one is around 30 - 35g and the other is around 50g.
