Posted June 8, 200520 yr okay, I've offered baths, but Sunshine has shown no interest, so I purchased a small spray bottle, filled it with warm water and misted him. He didn't seem to mind it, seemed puzzled more than anything. But he hasn't preened a single feather since I did that. He is just sitting on his perch, wet. I was expecting him to do something... Does anyone here use a spray bottle? What results have you had? Risha
June 8, 200520 yr I have used a spray and mine just freak out-dash from side to side to get away from it.They do have a good shake after and start to preen SOMETIMES but being as stroppy as budgies are-not always! Julie
June 8, 200520 yr well one of mine sits there and fluffs up to get it underneath his little feathers, and the other gives a look of disgust and a loud squawk of disapproval before fluttering off to a high place... (Laughing out loud)
June 8, 200520 yr my mum and dads budgies love their spray wash. They won't go in a bird bath or anything else so theyhave no choice but to take the spray bath. The fluff out their feathers and then shake themselves and preen for ages afterwards.
June 8, 200520 yr I use a small spray bottle for Newton. She gets a little freaked out but then shakes herself off.

B <{POST_SNAPBACK}> every 3 weeks? i think birds should be allowed access to bathing water or spray at least a few times a week. they need it to keep their feather condition good. the water stimulates a hormone that conditions the feathers and makes them preen.
