May 28, 200519 yr aww thats nice. im glad there are people to take the budgies. I bet they will want to see them all the time before they can take them home. will you keep one ?
May 28, 200519 yr Hi Budgies lay eggs every other day so hatch every other day - The food crop does get air bubbles in it and it is nothing to worry about from what I have seen with mine. Good luck with you babies though!!

The eggs can take up to 21 days and your girl sounds like she is doing fine. congratulations on your babies and well done. Have you tried to post a few pics? adam has pined a How to post pictures at the start of the forum have a look and see how you go. We would love to see some pictures. It's highlighted in pink.
May 29, 200519 yr HiBudgies lay eggs every other day so hatch every other day - Good luck with you babies though!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Some do and some don't , for eg: One of mine lay every other day but the first 1 hatches on day 21 then 20 then 19 and the 4th is on day 18 so her first 4 are only a day apart then the rest are on their 18 days. I think they are all different just like us.
May 30, 200519 yr okay here is my first attempt at posting pics of my new family: I took this photo of the chicks yesterday morning This is what the nestbox looks like this morning another chick born 36 hour early, it wasnt due till tomorrow night this is Frankie the father (very hand tame) This is Daisy the mum (also hand tame) sorry for the blury picture
May 30, 200519 yr the oldest isnt so ikkle anymore (Laughing out loud) although the younger ones have more white feathers than him, is this normal
May 30, 200519 yr given the colours of the parents i wonder what the babies will be like? i bet someone will tell me......
May 30, 200519 yr Won't they be green? Because green is dominant to blue.......ah, i dunno! They're sooooo cute!!!
May 30, 200519 yr thats what i think Bea! Barneys mummy was a green the same as him and his daddy was a normal blue. But i suppose you never can tell these things.
May 30, 200519 yr I think they are just gorgeous and they will grow up to be gorgeous too. Well done on the pics. Just 2 more to go, good luck and keep posting pictures..
May 30, 200519 yr is it possible that i will get a mix of green and blue cos i really want some blue ones too. what really like are the greys and yellows, and whites and rainbow but i wont get them with these (Laughing out loud) :bb:
May 30, 200519 yr This is a picture of the oldest baby he/she is 3 days old does it look like he has splayed legs to you? im not sure what the legs are suposed to look like at this age cos this is my first time breeding. i dont know how to roughen up the bottom of the nest box to stop this happening :nest:
May 30, 200519 yr His legs look fine to me. They are so cute, it makes me go all warm and fuzzy inside to see them. :nest: You could get some blues, but only if your hen is split for blue. Otherwise they should all be green.
May 30, 200519 yr oh rainbow! (Laughing out loud) how can you got a ll warm and fuzzy for those ugly little beasties!! (Laughing out loud) only joking! i am beginnning to think they are not so ugly anymore. the first time i saw one i was horrified but now i seem to be getting used to them. just think my little budgiee to be has probably got some feathers now. That makes me all warm and fuzzy thinking of that!
May 30, 200519 yr i dont know daisy's background if she wasnt 'split' is there anychance i could get a blue
May 30, 200519 yr No, because green is dominant to blue. If your hen was split to blue, the blue gene could come from your green hen, and blue genes are all the male has to offer. It takes two blue genes to get a visibly blue bird. But the babies, when paired to blue birds, could produce blue babies.
May 30, 200519 yr thanks for the help, heres hoping that daisy is split (Laughing out loud). i dont know here background cos a neigbour found her as a baby sitting on their fence and no-one claimed her so they gave her to me (Laughing out loud)
May 30, 200519 yr Sorry to butt in but I just have to ask why you're breeding a bird whose background you have no idea of? Can you even be sure of her age? I know the deed is already done so it's not like you can rewind and "unbreed" her. I just didn't know if this is something you've already thought about or not.
May 30, 200519 yr she was very young when we found her, we took her to a vet to get her checked over, her cere was still pinky and she still had the black bars all down her forehead. she's three now and ive thought for a while about breeding her. i decided to give her a chance and see how she gets on and im glad i did because she is doing a brilliant job
