Are nuts safe for budgies

Featured Replies

I am in the middle of hand taming Biggles and want to give him treats for doing so well.

I have offered him millet but beleive it or not he really doesn't want it. I have even put it in his cage for him and he doesn't go near it.

Every day I am putting fresh veggies etc in his cage and he refuses to touch them. I will persevere though.

At the moment his diet consists of 50% seed and 50% gold feast which was recommended by my vet, until he eats veggies.

I was thinking of nuts which have been already shelled so that it is easy for him to take them out of my hand. If nuts are okay to give them, could someone tell me what type?

I would be really grateful for any advice on this.

Thanks

I was wondering the same thing yesterday! :) I haven't found anything on them though so i'm not sure. I was thinking that they might be too fatty but i'm not too sure.....maybe something like pine nuts would be okay but definitely wait until someone more wise comes along. :nest:

what is gold feast? is it like pellets?

Yes nuts are okay, just on the fatty side. Make sure you get them with little salt! have fun
