Posted December 17, 201410 yr Hi, About a month and a half ago I got my first budgie which I named Blu. Blu is a very energetic, personality full, but shy around new people budgie. He has become a big part of my everyday routine, and is slowly becoming more tame and enjoys siting on my shoulder. Recently I've seen quite small (at least for now) skin patches underneath his wings around what I would imagine the arm pit area. I've managed to book a vet appointment, but it's in a weeks time. He seems to peck there quite often and there's been small feathers around the cage ever since I've got him ( there is usually six - ten feathers there daily ). I'm not sure if it's normal or not, how to treat it or what it is. So if you could answer those questions or/and more I would appreciate it greatly. I'm worried about him because I don't have any experience with birds since he is my first, and as I said he is a big part of my life. I love him to pieces and he is getting lots of treats for Christmas. Including a cage almost three times the size of the one he is currently in, and the most exciting part, a budgie buddy (when I feel he is tame). I'm afraid he will get very sick and the feathers will drop out at a scary pace. But also that I won't be able to get him his friend I've been waiting for since I've got blu. Please help! P.S any answers, tips, things I should know and extras would be greatly appreciated.

December 26, 201410 yr Author Thanks, he is getting pin feathers around his head so I'm sure it's just a moult. Hopefully some new feathers will appear under his wings soon.
