Posted November 7, 201410 yr Hi , i am new to the forum and i have a bit of a concern with my budgie, his name is bert and is 6 years old, he is very chirpy and up beat , talks ALOT , plays with his bells , toys etc , over the past couple days i have noticed his poo a bit watery and slightly green, he still acts normal , not puffed up etc , in the morning there was a long string of poop attached to his vent , i took him to the vet today and they could not find anything wrong , they checked his poop and found no worms , but they did sugest i worm him as he has not been wormed for some time , ive attached some photo's , any advise would be appreciated , thank you
November 17, 201410 yr I'm sorry you didn't get any responses to this question. How is Bert doing now? Indoor budgies do NOT need to be wormed. And it seems pretty silly to me to suggest worming a bird that had no evidence of worms in the fecal test. If the vet is not an avian vet, imo, it will not help you to take a bird to them. I hope he is doing better now.
December 5, 201410 yr Author yes he is doing much better, i went and saw an avian vet who prescribed Psittavet , initially i was giving it to him in his water , but it turns the water blue and he didn't drink it , so he was getting worse , puffed , sleeping all day and not eating , so i decided to manually feed it to him via syringe twice a day and within 2-3 days he was more Spritely , talking , eating etc , the vet to continue this treatment for about 30 days, its working anyhow , hes back to normal.
