Posted September 28, 201410 yr I am very new to budgie breeding ( so not started yet but hope to once I learn more and gather all equipment etc) as well as new to this forum. I do however believe I have a rainbow male budgie and a cobalt violet SF dominant Pied female and was wondering if I bred them does anyone know what type of colours and variety of budgies could result from this mating. They both get along very well too but I don't think the female will be a year old till Dec so I would have to wait till after that as well. This is terrific having a forum like this - hope I use it correctly as new to internet as well!
September 28, 201410 yr Hi and welcome, you'll be able to learn heaps from the forum. It's good you are wanting to gather all the information first before breeding and this is one of the best places you can come.
September 28, 201410 yr G'day and Welcome to the forum. The "rainbow" budgie can be any number of combination of mutations so it's a bit hard to determine what you are going to get. Enjoy the breeding though, I look forward to seeing how it all goes!
September 29, 201410 yr Rainbow is actually a very specific combination, but there are so many people who call other combinations rainbow, that Jimmy is right- there is no way to know what your budgie is without a photo. (Which we would love to see! ) This is a great place to learn about breeding budgies. That's how I did it, too, while I was waiting for my first breeder pairs to grow up. Welcome to the forum. (And the internet!)
