Posted September 25, 201410 yr Hi all, I have a baby that is starting to get pin feathers, and the feathers coming through the wing appear to have yellow on them. The father of this baby is a yellow face t2 (I think) with a purple body (does that mean mauve?) the mum is a sky blue opaline cinnamon spangle. Would it possible to have a yellowface from this pairing, and will I get spangles? Thanks
September 26, 201410 yr Author This is the baby I am wondering if yellow face, you are able to see little bits of yellow coming through the wings These are 2 siblings I cleaned the box today, and removed the poo that was stuck to the babies. Thanks for the help
September 28, 201410 yr Hi - I am new to this forum and hope it is okay as slightly different topic - the photo of your budgie - can I ask would you call that cobalt pied? Just I have one like it and thought it was mauve at first then realized it wasn't.

September 29, 201410 yr If the father is a double factor yf2, then all the chicks will be yf2. If he is single factor, then about half of the chicks will be. If one parent is spangle, then about half the chicks will be spangles. A purple looking budgie usually means one dark factor combined with one or two violet factors. So cobalt, not mauve. Mauve looks more like grey. Since the mother has two sex-linked genes, all the male chicks will be split to those. You will not get any visual opaline or cinnamon unless the father is split to it. (You don't mention him being visual to them.)
September 30, 201410 yr Author Thanks for the reply Finnie, the dad has no other visual mutations other than yellowface. So far 2 out of 5 babies appear to be yellow faces, but 2 babies are only starting to get fluff so haven't begun to get any colour.
October 3, 201410 yr Author I think I have a yellow face spangle, a normal yellow face, a blue spangle and 2 young birds too hard too tell colour.
October 11, 201410 yr Author Looks like the male was split opaline, I have 4 opaline spangles, 2 are yellow face. And the last baby is a normal blue opaline. Photos to come shortly
