Posted June 24, 201410 yr Hi there I am planning on dedicating a small flight to budgies for the purpose of breeding some extra colour and size into my lutinos. How many pairs do you believe I can house/breed in a small flight 1000 wide by 1750 deep by 1800 high? I was thinking 2 maybe 3 at the max but some of my mates believe more. I think more than 3 would be crowded but others on this forum may know better. Thanks Steve
August 5, 201410 yr Heaps!! I have a 3x3 metre aviary 2 mt high. I have had 60-70 birds in free flight in it. If you intend to colony breed I suggest you read the pros and cons of that in the breeding sections. I cage bred by dividing aviary in 3, one section was cages depending how many pairs you want to put down I only bred 4 cages at a time.(pet types) rest was left as free flight for rest of birds.
August 6, 201410 yr thanks would 10 pairs be good enough for that seize cage, if so how many nest box for the avire
August 6, 201410 yr thanks would 10 pairs be good enough for that seize cage, if so how many nest box for the avire How ever many pairs you put in the aviary you normally need to put twice the amount of boxes. So 10 pairs would mean 20 boxes.
August 13, 201410 yr 10 breeding pairs with say 4 chicks per nest, would soon add up to 80 in one round, if they all breed so just be sure you can get rid of your surplus birds easily. Cages you can control your breeding better. Good luck either way.
