Posted June 9, 201410 yr I just got a pair from a pet shop. However I am not very sure about the female. Can some one check the pics and confirm the age and sex. Pics of budgie : Groovy - (Expecting female) And here the picture of scala, which I think is male They are named Scala and Groovy. Groovy behaves aggressive and chases scala away, she is more active, walks back and forth on the perches. Scala is calm and less vocal. Thanks Edited June 9, 201410 yr by scala
June 9, 201410 yr Author Both are 100% boys Thanks for your reply, How old the blue one looks like ? To me, it seems like less then 4 months ? If both are boyz.. why is the younger one (blue) trying to defend his territory, which is commonly seen in female ! Any one else has any comments ? Edited June 9, 201410 yr by scala
June 12, 201410 yr both males, first one is under four months as he has bars up to his cere. Not sure on age of second but it would be over 6 months
June 23, 201410 yr Groovy to me looks to young to tell as the cere is pink if it were a girl you normally see brown or grey and boys normally have blue cere witch scala has.
June 24, 201410 yr Groovy to me looks to young to tell as the cere is pink Hi sup, When a young budgie has a fully pink cere as Groovy has, it is usually assumed as a male. If a young budgie has a white cere you usually assume female. There are some good pinned topics to understand how to tell budgie genders at a young age. Thanks
July 24, 201410 yr My opinion.: Groovy could be a young male 3 to four months but what baffles me is the white around nostrils which means it could become female? Only 2 to 3 months time you will be able to tell. Scala is defo male about 6 months And I agree females are aggressive much more than males. My males are all passive even in breeding frenzies. The females do all the fighting! Most of my bird's noise comes from the females! I have 40 Budgies. And I'm not a breeder.just love the critters.
