Can anyone tell me if this is common. My new pet budgie has different coloured cheek patches. One side is fully white and another side is blue. Also see if anyone can comment on the mutation.

Blue on back. Sometime looks deep navy blue and other times looks dark aqua.

He is yet to have his first moult though.

Different color cheek patches are reasonably common among pied budgies. Your bird appears to be a yellow face blue double factor dominant pied.
