Posted April 5, 201411 yr I want to start a breeding journal on your Breeders Forum. Attached is the photo of my first hen bought in 2011, Lilly. She is also an Albino. I placed her with my first ever Male bought who is a show-budgie, English Budgie origin called Poff Poff-sweet and gentle bird. Now, two of my females (which we refer to as the twins) have started sharing a box and both laid eggs and hatched them with both having different males feeding them! Have you ever come across this phenomenon? Commenst KAZ? Nadine? Finnie? Here is a photo. They have 3 gorgeous chicks ! I fostered last "Runt" to another hen as they trampled one tiny one to death. But they are doing splendid. Females fight madly over males! and boxes! How did this happen? Here they are on eggs, i will take photos tomorrow and download of their 3 chicks in box.(Hopefully both will be there inside with chicks) Edited April 7, 201411 yr by Finnie
April 6, 201411 yr Hi, Yes i have had this happen not too long ago, they had 2 rounds together in the same box and raised 7 on the first attempt and 2 on the second as most of the eggs didn't hatch. Seemed very odd but it worked out, i found that one female would mostly maintain the eggs while the other would guard the door of the box. They both sat on the eggs but 1 did it more often than the other.
April 6, 201411 yr I have had this happen to me before too. Two female budgies shared a nesting box, even though eight boxes were on offer. They raised three babies in their first lot with only one male and seven babies in the second lot with two males.
April 6, 201411 yr Author What? I thought females fight ?! Well there were boxes available but they are sisters from same clutch, so maybe they remained bonded! Well budgielov3r I am amazed.so I learn everyday:D Edited April 7, 201411 yr by Finnie
April 7, 201411 yr Female budgies definitely can fight, but that doesn't mean they always will. It's pretty cool to hear all of your stories of the hens that did get along. Edited April 7, 201411 yr by Finnie
April 7, 201411 yr Author Hi Finnie thanks for all your efforts. Those pics r my IRN s two females. They r in a huge cage on my enclosed Patio. I rescued them from a fleemarket vendor-they r old according to their rings but I am caring for them... Ever the rescuer! I do breed bengalese finches+ zebra finches and handrear the runts. My main focus is on budgies for their beautiful colours and mutatiions. I also have 6 lovebirds Finnie.

In case this doesn't make sense to anyone but myself, I had asked Maz in a PM about her other birds. I saw their photos on her Photobucket page. She has some very pretty birds.

April 22, 201411 yr Author My first Lutino My second Male PixieBlue These two were paired until she died on old year's Eve 2013, unexpectedly from a bite under her wing that just wouldn't heal! RIP my Darling Tulip! Her first & only Clutch was Peanut, Lemon,Rainbow and Splash. I sold Lemon but kept all three the others Lilly and Poff Poffs 1st Clutch was Powderpuff and English -just like Dad-Powderpuff died from flu or Crop Canker-Vet could not save her. English escaped on a very windy day.Crying is not the word.
