Posted December 5, 201311 yr hi all, new to the forum, just posted in the taming forum, here's a couple of pictures of my bird, frank
December 5, 201311 yr Frank is just adorable, I love the head tilt. Such a lively color of blue too. You have him landing on your arm, that is great! I envy you.
December 6, 201311 yr Lovely bird, is he true violet? The blue/violet colours don't come out true to colour on pics. so it's hard to tell. Love the play gym.
December 7, 201311 yr Author thanks everyone! I think he's a bit of a cutie . such a lovely character too - has never ever tried to bite me! Lovely bird, is he true violet? The blue/violet colours don't come out true to colour on pics. so it's hard to tell. Love the play gym. I think he is robyn, not completely sure. would love to breed him and see what I get! he has a white spot on the back of his head so I think he's split for recessive pied, so could produce some interesting babies . maybe in a year or two..
December 8, 201311 yr Hi frankiebird, If he has a white spot on the back of his head this would mean that he is a dominant pied, with very little markings, if you breed with him to a normal color say all blue, you may get som dominant pied chicks.
December 8, 201311 yr Hello Frank and Frankiebird. He is just gorgeous, love his colour and he looks like quite a character. Hi frankiebird, If he has a white spot on the back of his head this would mean that he is a dominant pied, with very little markings, if you breed with him to a normal color say all blue, you may get som dominant pied chicks. I'm pretty sure the spot on the back of the head on a normal bird means split recessive pied.
December 9, 201311 yr Ive always known a spot on the back of a birds head to denote that it is a dominant pied variety showing the minimal pied markings. I have read this to be a fact and I have bred birds with just a spot on their heads from dominant pied matings. all it takes is the one spot and these lightly marked pieds can throw better marked and defined dominant pieds in their progeny
December 11, 201311 yr Author thanks everyone. here's a couple of photos of him from today - one showing the tiny spot on the back of his head.
