Posted October 28, 201311 yr Today I have noticed that my little one likes water sound. When I washed the dishes he started vocalizing for the first time I have recorded it with his voice and then every time I started recording sounds he vocalizing, especially when he heard his voice. Is it good idea to let him listen it ? I have found waterfall sound on you tube and thought to put him during hours I will not be at home. Is it good or bad idea? And is it okay if he can hear recording with bird voices and his own voice ? thank you
October 28, 201311 yr I've noticed that when I have budgies near my kitchen, doing the dishes really sets them off. For mine, it's not the sound of the water. They start up at the rattling when I unload the dishwasher. But I can tell with mine that they are making a cranky noise, and they definitely DON'T like the noise I make with the dishes. For your baby, I bet he really misses the sounds of other birds around. Playing recordings of bird sounds might help reassure him. Also, if your house is quiet a lot, that might be making him nervous. How much noise does your family make? Is there music or TV going much of the time? If not, then I think playing something (anything) would be good, so he has some background noise. In the wild, there is always noise happening from all the different creatures. And if any danger approaches, all the animals go silent. So in our homes, silence can be stressful to birds, since it is a sign of danger. Even if you don't play a radio when you are home, you should definitely turn one on when everybody leaves the house. Waterfall noises on their own might not be enough chatter, unless there are bird noises accompanying the water.
October 28, 201311 yr You might want to try "Happy Budgies". You can sample it on you tube. I bought the album and downloaded it online. My birds love listening to it.
October 28, 201311 yr Allen, my budgie, loves any kind of music. In fact, he seems to like loud noises in general LOL. If the house is quiet he gets nervous (I live in a rather noisy household.) He loves it when I sing or read to him and as I said he loves musc So it is probably a good idea to play music for your budgie if he seems to like it. Allen made his first sounds while I was reading to him
October 29, 201311 yr Author Thank you every body !!! Yes Phoebes I have downloaded exactly the same happy birds on youtube.. Actually I don't know if he likes it In the beginning I thought he likes but he becomes nervous i think - he starts go around the cage up and down and around and start to seek for other brids... is it okay ? He really start to find exit from the cage !!! Do you think i have to continue to let him listen for it ? when i put the second time i think he likes, he doesn't make any sounds that can make me think that he is angry... I let him go off the cage... actually it is the first time, but i think he really try to find other birds. Is it dangerous for him ???
October 31, 201311 yr I wouldn't say dangerous, but it could be frustrating. If he is longing for the birds he knew in his old home, and he thinks he hears them, but he can never find them. You may be better off sticking with music, radio or TV for background noise.
