Posted October 20, 201311 yr Hello, How many toys baby (or young - about 7-9 weeks) budgie needs ? When to put everything in the cage after I bring him home what is the best thing to buy at first ? I thought following swing http://www.amazon.co...d=ATVPDKIKX0DER ladder http://www.drsfoster...atid=8564&rel=1 or just colorful pending stuff http://www.drsfoster...78&pcatid=26378 http://www.drsfoster...fm?pcatid=26006 I don't know if mirror is a good idea in the begining. I am afraid that the young budgie will think that this is another bird and will not very human and interactive how should I bring the budgie to my home ? in the real cage he will stay later ? thank you Edited October 20, 201311 yr by KiwiBudgie
October 20, 201311 yr My budgies all love their swings. They fight over it sometimes and prefer it as a sleeping place. Birds like to destroy things so you have to be careful they can't pull out thread and get it wrapped around a foot. Also that they don't eat thread. Mine only tried this when they were babies and I removed large perches made of thread. However they now have them back and don't try to pull threads out. My budgies like toys with Popsicle sticks in them because they can break them apart easily. (the sticks that look like spoons)
October 20, 201311 yr My budgie loves his swings and he loves bells too. I dont think mirrors are a good idea because the budgie might bond with the bird in the mirror and not with you. My budgie doesn't have a mirror and he's happy, I don't think they're neccesary or even a good idea. My budgie likes to chew on string and papery materials, too. Good luck:)
October 23, 201311 yr Swings, bells, even cotton reels mine play with, hanging rings e.g. large curtain rings attached to a length of chain with rings hanging along it, mine love to climb from one to the other. Make sure anything you put in is big enough they can easily get in or out of without getting stuck. Depends if it's just for small cage or aviary, mine are all in aviary but the flight area is open to sun and they play there all day or just enjoy the sun. Another thought, don't put anything in that may be seen as a nesting place if you don't want them breeding.
October 25, 201311 yr Swings are great, and anything a budgie can safely climb through is always good. I have a set of hanging rings in my nursery cage and the young birds love climbing through and hanging off these.
October 29, 201311 yr Author Thank you. I put Cado in his new huge cage . Thank you Finnie !! He seems to really enjoy there. And I bought a big cotton swing online. It's done with cotton in many colors. He LOVES to chew it and starts to sit inside it )
