Straight from a breeder is the best place to buy budgies.

Not sure if reliable but have you tried gumtree?

I have a large amount of babies ready to leave the nest in a couple more weeks if interested.

I found a place at the vic market a pet store there looked really clean and some of the birds were nice looking.

I would suggest that 1 of the many breeders on this forum or the many others that are not would be the best option for purchasing budgies. You can see their breeding stock and conditions under which they are bred and raised.

Pet shops in my opinion may have an occasional good bird, and yes I have found some, but pet shops usually carry breeders cast off's, with no real info as to the birds heritage or breeding conditions, or as 1 does locally here buys from battery breeders in SA and refuses to buy locally.

 

WHERE IN SOUTH AFRICA , CAPE TOWN CAN ONE GET GOOD BUDGIES? I BREED WITH A COUPLE OF BUDGIES AND HAVE SOLD TO FRIENDS AND ONE GROUP OF NURSERY PETSHOP CALLED "STODELS" BUT I NEED TO GET FRESH STOCK IN TO BREED WITH EXISTING STOCK. DON'T WANT TO COLONY BREED.
