My breeding season has started off fantastically and I currently have 20 babies including 7 ino's. 4 different boxes have the ino chicks and most of them are beginning to get yellow pin feathers so they are going to be lutino. I am just wondering if there is anyway to mark the birds so you know who is from which clutch. They are just normal pet birds so I don't ring them or anything like that.

 

Also would someone be able to tell me the chances of this being a lacewing.

 

Grandparents for mum:

Albino hen mauve cock

 

Grandparents for dad:

Lutino lacwing hen violet cock split to cinnamon

 

Mum:

opaline dominant pied yellow face grey

 

Dad:

Yellow cinnamon (mustard?)

 

I can also provide the parents of the grandparents if needed but what are peoples thoughts on a baby from the mum and dad being a lacewing? It already has red eyes but is only a couple days old.

Sounds like you're off to a great start to your breeding season.

 

You can buy plastic coloured rings that people use to identify birds, you could use a one colour for each box. Any good bird supply shop or ebay should have them.

Yes it has been an amazing start, i still have 4 boxes with a total of 14 eggs to hatch. Most of them are looking fertile and should hatch in a bit over a week.

 

Regarding the leg rings, it's going to be a bit late to put them on now. I'm just wanting to have a quick and easy method to identify them when I sell them further down the track.

U can use split rings they are cheap and reuseable
