Posted September 17, 201311 yr Hi, So excited to be starting our budgie family. We haven't bought anything yet, still in the research and production phase We are currently deciding what cage would be suitable to have out on our back deck. I have read that wider cages are better than tall cages for budgies. I have found this one, which we like the look of, but just wondering if you all think it is suitable for budgies and how many budgies would it hold comfortably. http://www.gtmall.co...ird Cage Aviary Not sure if this link will work, but hopefully it does. Really look forward to becoming apart of this online community, I have been reading and browsing for a few weeks now, can't wait to get started.

September 19, 201311 yr Hi Meluchja Welcome and good luck, not a cage expert but wider is apparently better than taller. I have many budgies and finches, lovebirds etc. Budgies are my favourite and sweet and i have learned a lot in last year. Please read all about breeding, egg binding, fungal infections, drafts and the BAD this as well as good things. Do not mate a female unless she is older than a year. They die!!!! Their immune system cannot handle it. Make sure your budgies are mature and their needs when laying eggs. Lots of Calcium , green silver beet or as we call it in South Africa:swiss chard (Spinach) I cried many tears for lost babies that died, and tears of joy for the beauties that made it! Good luck!!!!
