Hi guys!!

Thought this would be a good first post...

My name is Darcy and I have 2 budgies currently sitting on their (and mine) first clutch of 6 egg!! I'm so excited! :)

They are doing so, so well! My first egg is due to hatch tomorrow, if it is fertilized. I am too scared to candle them and the hen won't let me near them.

Any tips, advice, past experiences are all welcome!!

Thanks everyone!! :)

Hi & Welcome,

At this stage best advice is watch and learn, l.o.l. Mum will feed any chicks in first few days, then Dad will chime in and help (he feeds Mum first by the way) she feeds chicks crop milk which sets the chicks up to start.

If you know date's eggs were laid they will hatch in that order, if fertile, every 2 days.

Apart from keeping seed, water fresh veg's etc for parents just keep an eye out for any problems. If that happens and your not sure, post on here and someone will advise I'm sure. Good luck and keep us posted. :)

Just to add mine seem to like fresh corn cob, hulled oats, silver beet, some egg & biscuit DRY if you have it, when first feeding chicks.
