Posted July 28, 201311 yr Hi All, We are looking to confirm the sex of my daughters latest four offspring to a Lutino hen and Sky Blue male. They are approx. 7-8 weeks old. Lutino 1 a hen. Green 1 hen. Green 2, I’m thinking is also a hen with my daughter hoping it’s a boy. Lutino 2 a hen. Sadly 2 further born of a clutch of 7 eggs did not survive beyond a few days. So, how have we gone picking their sex ?, I think all hens ? Plus picture 5 is a 13mth old Albino’, ‘Milkshake, from a Spangle Opaline Grey hen & Opaline Grey male which we gave my sister & I’m certain is a hen, however she has moved in next to an old Cockatiel male called Spot & is now talking ‘hello Spot’ & mimicking Spot’s calls etc. I’ve heard hens can talk etc but not so much as males ? Thanks for any & all confirmations Lutino 1 hen. Green 1 hen Lutino 1 hen Green 2 hen Green 2 hen ? Milkshake talking hen ? Edited July 28, 201311 yr by Sherlock

July 30, 201311 yr Author thanks birdluv, the light white around the nostrils throws me, plus he/she bites like anything, which makes me think hen Edited July 30, 201311 yr by Sherlock
July 30, 201311 yr Author here is another photo of our two 7-8 week old Greens, we think definite hen on the left & Rio on the right which shows the white around the nostrils better, different light can alter how a photo shows up features, so we are just not sure
August 1, 201311 yr After the last picture you posted l change my mind and I do agree with you. Looks like both are hens in that picture. Edited August 1, 201311 yr by birdluv
August 1, 201311 yr Author thanks again birdluv, combined with the biting, we'd love to know what others might think, girl or boy ... four chicks and possibly four hens, although two chicks did not survive past 1-2 days unfortunately. My daughter had a go at the old post to identify the few day old chicks hens vs boys & only got the last one wrong which I thought was a terrific effort. Her mum Lutino hen is again on 6 eggs at present so we'll see what comes from this second clutch. Her Spangled Opaline Grey hen has laid only 3 eggs & we'll check on the weekend if they are clear or fertile, thanks again
September 21, 201311 yr Author Hi Kev, their cere is still light with a distinct white ring around the nostril. Rio has been sold along with her ? two Lutino sister hens. We have kept the other YF Green maybe to breed with next year. We still think she is a hen. Sherlock
