Mite & Lice Spray - Breeding Budgies

Hey guys,

Just wondering if I can use the mite and lice spray on my breeding budgies..? Or will the spray harm the babies?

Cheers, Mike. :)

Hey Mike, personally I think If you spray the parents away in a separate room you will be perfectly safe, but don't let the spray get in the food, and maybe allow the parents to dry off first before putting them back if you are worried, I have used liquid mite on my breeding male and they had babies at that moment of time and they where perfectly fine. However you may want to confirm this with another person on this forum, so just wait until you get another answer from someone else from the forum, as I don't want to say its okay, then it turns out not to be.

Hi Mike, do your birds have lice or mites? If not I don't think I'd spray them at all, until you see signs of either on your birds. If you do have an infestation of them your chicks would pick them up from parents anyway, in that case I'd spray parents away from chicks seed etc. spray chicks after they feather up if they show signs of either at that time. Red mites e.g will infest perch's nest box's etc and are hard to get rid of. There would be info on them in F.A.Q section to read up on.
