Advise: Baby Budgie Growth

I have a 2 week old baby budgie and I come home from work and see it sleeping a lot. At that age do they sleep a lot or should it be really active? I see poo around from the bird so it looks like its moving around the area we are just not home to see. It could we super active during the day when we are not home. Just wanted to make sure he is healthy. She/He is big and growing fast, but I look online and most videos seem like they are super active. There was only 1 egg so he doesn't have to compete for food. I tiny peep and momma or even daddy runs over to feed. Thanks any advise or anyone that had experienced raising baby budgie.

a 2 week old should still be in the nest. Your topic isnt very clear about whats going on. Could you clarify please :)

Hi Coral4,

You say you have a tiny peep at Mum & Dad, did you breed this baby yourself? If it's in a nest box with Mum & Dad it won't be ready to come out of nest box into cage until about 4 weeks old when it is fully feathered and starting to crack seed on it's own Dad & Mum will probably still feed it for a few days after that.

As long as it's growing and looking healthy it sounds okay,it will sleep a lot if it's a baby, can you tell us what your cage set up is like so we can help further. Or even add a picture or 2 so we can see your set up.
