Hello I am new here! I have 4 adults and now one baby budgie! I am not a breeder they laid an egg and it hatched!! Mommy and Daddy are both taking care of it. Hope I am doing everything I can for the little one. I have two birds in a huge flight cage coral ( my wild one) multi colored white and Kissimmee green : his mate. We have two blue ones they have the baby Shelby ( momma) and Clearwater (C.W.). In an other. The females started to fight bad ! Now i noticed the male is happier when separated! He is shy and coral is wild ( the males)! I am excited to learn any tips to make my birds happy and healthy!!

Welcome, I think I answered another post from you about baby sleeping etc. as you have explained more here I'd say you are doing okay. as each pair sound like they have been separated, you should have no problems raising the chick. Is the chick in a nest box? where was the egg laid and hatched? Mum and Dad will feed it until it's about 4 weeks old when it will start to crack seed on it's own.

Hello thanks all for the response. I am not breeding them. We adopted the birds and the two females were together for a while living okay with each other. Then they started to fight bad! We had to seperate them. Works out my other male is very happy now. Well they sell fleece tents I had one in there she must have ripped a hole and laid and egg. Most of the time they play with them and they are on the floor. This time I saw it looked in and it looked fertile so I figured I should let it be. Well Phoenix was born mamma and daddy both take care of him/her. It's week 4 going on week 5. So now debating do I lower the tray and nest so he can learn to climb up or leave it and he has to learn to climb down. Momma and daddy are now hanging low to the bottom of the cage I think trying to make him come out? There is a branch and ropes for him to try to climb on but he only tried the branch and then falls back in tray. Thanks for the advise. !! I need it. I love my birdies!!!

It is common to have a pair of budgies lay an egg in one of those fleece tents. The females often sees them as a nest.

Yes I thought to have it just incase they got cold at anytime. The female likes ! My other pair sleep on the top of it together. She has never laid any eggs. But I don't know how old she is either.

Can't really picture your set up, chick should be fully feathered and ready to leave nest box "tent" 4-5 weeks old. If he is feathered he will find his way out to the cage with Mum & Dad.

Hello Newbie here with baby-Welcome -Females fight, not males, strangely enough in Budgie world!!! The Females fight for the male's attention, not the other way around. Just make sure Mom& Dad have enough food and greens like lettuce and Apple or Strawberries. I put Cod Liver oil on seeds at night so by morning they are soaked in for their morning feed, also Wheatgerm oil. All available at Bird Pet Stores. NO DRAFTS! Morning sun, but if you are away in the day they should be where they can get cover from the sun but access to the sun. I put a cloth on one section for shade and leave the other perch on the sunny side. Hope you have no other probs. The Dad feeds the mom and the mom feeds the baby..........LOL
