He will be about three months old. He will be the only pet of the household, I am a bit worried about his reaction to losing his family and this is the cage they intend to purchase. I'm worried about the bird going into depression. What are your ideas on a lone bird and the cage. He will be allowed out when they are home.
June 4, 201312 yr It seems quite adequate. Maybe you would have to get perches that are small enough for budgies, however they could be fine. That's my opinion.

June 4, 201312 yr Hi it actually looks bigger than what the dimensions say but it should be fine for one budgie. As for only having one they adapt quite well and soon become a treasured member of the family who will become his or hers new flock. Cheers Jenny

I am wondering if a mirror is a bad thing for a lone bird. I told the couple a mirror might need to be cleaned often because the bird might try to feed it. I don't have mirrors because my birds have each other.
June 4, 201312 yr Most people don't recommend mirrors as the birds tend to obsess over them and they do get covered in regurgitated food LOL. Cheers Jenny
June 4, 201312 yr That looks like a great cage for a single bird Just make sure the perches are budgie-sized (1/2 inch wide to a little larger).
