May 30, 201311 yr Author I want to continue do do his work, he had 32 breeding cabinets and a lot of different budgies, I just need to learn how to tell how old they are, how long it takes for them to breed and how often do they breed. I think that some people reading my post must think that I'm getting myself in to deep but a promise is my word. I already have learnt a lot from KAZ (amazing knowledge) Thank you all for your help, Angelo

May 31, 201311 yr Author Can some tell me do budgies breed all year round or only half year and please advise what period. Also should I let the female continue to lay eggs while there is young ones in the box. Thank you Angelo
May 31, 201311 yr Budgies will breed anytime around the year so long as they are in condition It should be fine for a budgie to lay eggs while there is young ones in the nest, but you gotta watch over it carefully and monitor. but normally they will push their young out before they lay. someone experienced might be able to give you pointers.
June 2, 201311 yr I just need to learn how to tell how old they are.. If your grandfather was breeding showbirds, the year of hatch should be stamped on the rings, or you can go by ring colour: http://forums.budgie...opic=13461&st=0 If there are no rings, there is no way to tell the age of adult birds. how long it takes for them to breed... At least 10 months after leaving the box. ... and how often do they breed. You decide this, but no more than two rounds of chicks per year is a good rule. Joining a club is a great way to learn. June 2, 201311 yr Author Where can I buy the leg rings, I want to buy the right merchandise don't really care price
June 2, 201311 yr You have to join a club and buy the rings off them. This is what people mean when they describe their birds as "club rung". Rings are pretty cheap. I take it that you are working with show stock?
