I did have my 3 young budgies in a nursery cage outside.

 

Now I have had to separate them as both females have no wing or tail feathers left.

 

One has bleeding wing feathers, I have stopped the bleeding with corn flour.

 

Is this going to stop when I put them back in the cage after 2 weeks time?

 

I wanna sell them when I know they are in good health.

Hi, sounds like your 3rd bird is the problem, maybe take him? out and leave plucked 2 in together for company. Could be just "baby" play? he probably found it amusing so continued on. Hopefully he hasn't damaged any follicles and they will grow back. Whether this will stop as he grows up would be trial and error. Haven't found this myself so can't advise .

I find that sometimes the young birds will chew on each feathers (particularly tails) this purely to amuse themselves and because they can (the nursey cage is a confined environment after all). I've had one or 2 chicks end up with frayed tails when in the nursery cage - not very attractive when you want to sell the bird. I haven't had the plucking problem however. I agree, I would remove your offending bird and pop him into a cage by himself.

Hi L_J it does sound like French moult, if you could post some photos we might be able to tell with more certainty.

French moult affected birds do have blood in the shafts of the feathers and sometimes the newer feathers can break and bleed.

Generally the feathers grow back in about six to eight weeks if they are going to, some don't grow back at all.

I would stop breeding at least from the pair they came from and give them a six month break so as they can develop an immunity to the virus.

Hey well the white double factor doesn't have this.

 

But them 2 birds do. they are from same parents.

Sometimes it doesn't affect the whole clutch the same your other baby may be immune.

You can check him by opening his wings out and looking at the shafts, they should be white and clear and not have blood in them.
