Posted March 29, 201312 yr Hey I have owned this Lutino budgie for 6 months now, I am wondering why she is not completely yellow yet. Have I mistaken her as lutino or will the yellow come in more. She has bits of yellow on her.
March 29, 201312 yr Hi, A lutino budgie will be pure yellow when it's a baby, you could possibly have a pied if it is not pure yellow already. Could you add some pictures of it. Thanks
March 29, 201312 yr Hi, I could totally be wrong but that could be a creamino? It appears to have a yellow head with a white body. It's not a lutino because it would already be pure yellow. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks
March 29, 201312 yr Are her eyes red L_J ? Don't know what her mutation is but not lutino, Can you have an Albino with suffusion? Pure quess work on my part. If she's over 6 mths she would have moulted out by now. Hope others can answer what she is.
March 30, 201312 yr Author her eyes are red. I would say creamino lol just had a look at some and she has all the characteristics.
March 30, 201312 yr Yes she is a creamino aka yellowface albino. I think she is a type one yellowface as the yellow is quite pale, she is very pretty. Cheers Jenny
March 30, 201312 yr As Albino is sex linked,if paired with Albino, I'd say you would, maybe, get female Albino's but males would be split creamio not Albino. Can anyone tell me if this is correct? as hen's can't be split for sex linked Edited March 30, 201312 yr by robyn
March 31, 201312 yr I think if you pair her up with normal, not albino you will get splits and normals? You ill have to get her a albino male to get more albinos.
March 31, 201312 yr Author I think I might breed her next season with my YF Opaline Greywing. He seems very attracted to her while she was in the aviary. Then I might consider getting a albino. Its kinda risky if they don't like each other.
April 11, 201312 yr As Albino is sex linked,if paired with Albino, I'd say you would, maybe, get female Albino's but males would be split creamio not Albino. Can anyone tell me if this is correct? as hen's can't be split for sex linked I think she looks like a yellow face mutant one albino. If you pair her with an albino male, you will get 100% ino offspring. Half will be YF1 split to blue, and half will be blue. (A blue albino being a white bird.) Remember, the ino gene is the sex-linked part, but the color is on a different chromosome and passes on the same way it would in non-albino birds. I think I might breed her next season with my YF Opaline Greywing. He seems very attracted to her while she was in the aviary. Then I might consider getting a albino. Its kinda risky if they don't like each other. It's not risky. Budgies mix and match mates very easily, unlike some other bird species. It's only the rare occasion that you will put up a pair that fights with each other. So it's still a good idea to keep watch when you introduce them, but generally you can expect them to get along.
