March 10, 201312 yr Do you have aviary or cage? Depends on age etc of your new bird. If it's to be put in with existing birds it will need to be quarantined for 3 weeks or so so make sure it's not carrying and disease it could pass to your other birds. I personally give all new birds a drop of Ivamectin on back of neck, whether it shows any symptoms of illnes or not. It should clear up any internal worms etc it may have. Then I do my birds every 3 months. If you are getting bird from breeder, ask a few questions, like, what mutation it is,. what parents were etc, for future referance also what diet it has been given so you can try to use similar veges etc. Hope that helps a bit, others can probably add more, if you give us some more details.
March 11, 201312 yr Author The bird will be ready in few weeks, im alittle concerned because the lady that has breed it didnt seam to be the cleanest person, thou her brids looked to be in great shape, im only getting the one, we dont have any others. thanks for your help.
March 19, 201312 yr Does the breeder house her birds indoors, or outdoors? If outdoors, then a drop of Ivermectin would be a good preventative. If indoors, then I would only do that if it looked like there was a reason to suspect that the bird had worms.
