Posted February 24, 201312 yr Hello, My nesting female budgie is jerking when she sits on her eggs she just jerks and make a knocking sound but she doesn't do it when she's out of the nest box. She has eggs and there are 2 of them she is due to lay her third tomorrow but I am worried. This is my fist time breeding and I need help. she eats the wood shavings in the nest box every now and then, and I don't know how much she eats or drinks. so please help, Budgie_Mad.
February 24, 201312 yr Author okay so I got home after going out and she has stopped and is incubating the eggs (however does she sleep in there)? But all good now.
February 24, 201312 yr I don't know what the jerking movements are but sometimes the hen will tap on the box for the male to come and feed her. She might be trying to move the wood shavings because a lot of hens try to get rid of it and it won't hurt her if she has a little nibble as long as they are just natural plain wood shavings. Just keep in mind that they don't always get it right the first time, sometimes they don't get it right until the second round. Don't panic they will figure it out and you have to give them some time and space, I would only check them once a day or otherwise they can get stressed.
February 25, 201312 yr Author okay thanks for your help she stopped tapping anyway and she has been getting some of the shavings out so all good.
