Posted February 22, 201312 yr Hello everybody, I noticed on the 15th of Feb that my budgies started to mate for the first time, so I read up big and did extra homework on them and I have finally got my first egg. It was small but not too small, she started to incubate it the morning after laying, I don't know whether that means no more eggs or just not many (if anyone could answer that), and I am hoping tomorrow that the second if there is a second egg will arrive tomorrow (Saturday). The first egg is expected to lay on the 9th of march and I am really excited. I am hoping that I will be able to make my aviary a better aviary as when I open the door they can fly out. so hoping to put a exterior entrance that you can close before going through a second one. The breeding pair colours are Purple and Yellow-ino, and that's all really. I will update when I can and hope you can give me any tips that you think would be good. From Budgie_Mad.
February 22, 201312 yr Hi all hens are different as to when they start incubating properly. Are you sure she is sitting on the eggs, they will feel warm if she is. They usually lay anything from three to eight eggs but some go overboard and lay lots more. Being her first round it shouldn't be to many. Have fun breeding Cheers Jenny
