Posted December 27, 201212 yr Hello, new to BBC. I look after my teenage daughters small flock of 4 budgies. She has my dad's last male grey budgie (dad was a bird man his whole life, champion breeder & shower of budgies, finches in the 1960-70's in Sydney, NSW, then moved to parrots as a hobby). We are interested to know the colour type of dad's last male grey and his partner a female light grey and the type & sex of one of their offspring a full white approx 14 weeks old, 3 chicks hatched (all white), 2 survived, the second went to my sister 2 weeks ago, not sure of its sex. Photo's should be attached of mum, dad & bub. Any advice on colour types & sex of bub would be much appreciated. We'll leave the other two for another post. Thanks in anticipation. okay, I'm stumped, how do I attach photo's ? Any tips ? Edited December 27, 201212 yr by Sherlock

January 2, 201312 yr Hi and welcome, dad is an opaline grey, mum is a spangle opaline grey and the baby is an albino hen. Dad must carry the ino gene and any albinos you get will be hens. Cheers Jenny
January 3, 201312 yr Author thanks Jenny for the colours confirmation I hope to post a photo of the other albino baby as my sister thinks it may be a cock Here is my daughters other pair, a Lutino Hen & a blue cock, can you tell us what colour type he is please ?, plus they are both last seasons (2011) birds we got from a friend breeder, the Hen has had 2 clutches (Autumn & Spring) but both all clear eggs, is this because they are too young perhaps ? My daughter so wishes her Pop was still here as he would have all the answers. This time photobucket pasted a link where as last post in put the images in ?, not sure what I did differently but the link should take viewers to a photo of them both. http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/Sherlock55/P1030215-Copy_zps4fc10786.jpg thanks
January 24, 201312 yr An albino baby can only be a cock if its mother is an albino. The cock in the link appears to be a normal sky blue. I don't know why the hen had clear eggs. Probably not because of age, more likely due to not actually mating with the cock, or the cock is infertile. Maybe she can give them a rest and try again when the hen's cere starts to turn a light creamy tan. If she waits until the cere is chocolate brown, it may be past optimum timing. Also to look for signs of courtship between the two. Maybe this hen would prefer a different mate, if she's not hitting it off with this one? As for the photos, between this forum changing its procedures a while back, and photobucket constantly changing things, the photos can be a little inconsistent. I usually click on the option for "direct link" that Photobucket gives, and then paste that into the box that comes up when you click on the little photo inserting icon in the forum's toolbar. Oh, and welcome to the forum.
