okay so I am relatively new at this. I got my budgies this spring. They basically used to fight at first but now all get along. I don't close the door of the cage when they choose to be together because the males will fight. I kind of feel a bit panicked at times because I don't want them to get hurt at night when I can't get them into a cage. I'm still learning more every day about their care. Also my yellow budgie Sunny has dark marking on his feathers ever since I got him. I wonder if he is okay? He acts okay and eats and acts healthy but those dark feathers don't seem right.

When I first got them they had all been severely trimmed and I was judged for what the pet shop did. They eat lots of veggies but will not taste the fruit much. All six are photographed from left to right:Charlie, Noah, Allie, Emerald, Sunny and Loki. A friend they don't know took the photo, it made me realize that by now they know me. They all look so scared in the photo.

You have some beautiful birds there, Phoebes. The yellow one is fine; sometimes budgies just have some off-colored feathers.

Thanks! Good to know little Sunny is okay.

A lovely little family of birds. Does your Sunny have red eyes? He could be split for some other mutation, which could give the markings on his wings.

Sunny has dark eyes, they just seem to be black.

Hi, if he's got black eyes he's not a pure lutino so maybe he's split to something else. You probably won't know until you breed from him to see what mutations you get. He's lovely whatever he is. Could almost pass for a canary l.o.l.

At first the other budgies all rejected him. I bet they thought he looked like a canary too! Loki the most dominant female took to protecting Sunny. :)

Hi Sunny looks to be a double factor spangle and the dark markings are suffusion of the colour coming through and nothing to worry about.

Cheers Jenny

Thank you very much. I was worried he might have some kind of parasite. Good to know it's normal.
