Yellow Face Dilute Blue ?

Featured Replies

Wow, I'm clueless when it comes to color mutations, but what a gorgeous bird!

Hi he is a yellowface blue double factor spangle and very pretty. Cheers Jenny

Hello,

I have never breed any colour like this before and was wanting to know what colour he is.

In this clutch I also had an albino (hen) and a violet yellowface spangle (hen). The parents are yellowface skyblue spangle (cock) and skyblue spangle (hen).

He is very pretty indeed. I'm curious, though, since budgie mutations are my favorite subject. Do you have photos of the parents and siblings? You mention that a sibling is a violet, and you said both parents are sky blue. To get a violet, you need a dark factor in there, so I was curious about what you actually do have. (No real reason other than being nosey and also that I like seeing photos of people's birds, lol. :D)

Hello

Thank you everyone for your replies.

The below picture is of the nesting box including all 3 budgies from this clutch. Note the yellow face blue spangle double factor at the bottom:

I can post recent pics of the parents when we have some cooler weather!

agree there is a dark factor in one of the parents, even the yellowface in the nest box picture looks cobalt not skyblue.

As Hilly said the chick in question is a double factor spangle with suffusion. This will darken as the chick grows,

Hello,

The last clutch (from the above previous photos) has again produced nice colours including two Yellow Face Skyblue Spangles and the below white budgie.

This time a white body with dilute blue front.

Will be considering keeping him or hand taming.

Would also appreciate the technical name if anyone knows.

Thanks

Hi Harry what a pretty bird, I think he is a double factor spangle cobalt with very heavy suffusion.

It would be interesting to see what he looks like after he moults.

Cheers Jenny

Beautiful chicks Harry 1. I have one similar, not as coloured, I thought it was pure white until he started to show the suffusion a slight mauve flush on his chest.

The more expert members said he was still a double factor spangle even though he had the colour, after 2 moults he's only slightly darker than first moult and very nice. The same pair produced an albino in next clutch. Love your pied yellow & violet? bird in previous pictures.
