Posted December 20, 201212 yr Hi all, this might be a question no one knows the answer to, but I suppose no hurt in asking anyway, so are Carambola (or starfruit) TREES safe for budgies? I grew a couple from seed and I have them in the same room with my Budgie, Allen. Just wondered if anyone had any ideas? Here are pictures if you don't know what I'm talking about. https://www.google.c...iw=1680&bih=903 thanks Edited December 20, 201212 yr by Birdlove
December 21, 201212 yr Hello Nice pictures, still don't know the answer. There are lists of poisonous plants on the www If in doubt leave it out. Budgies will destroy house plants.... Or die trying... B.J.
December 22, 201212 yr Well here is your answer, Birdlove, came right up on the google search for "star fruit toxicity". Oxalic acid is known to be in irritant at least, if nothing else. I would say keep Allen away from it. http://www.petpoisonhelpline.com/poison/starfruit/
