April 4, 201312 yr That's what I think as well. As Mum isn't an ino. Dad 's gene's produced this chick. As it's a visual Ino it should be a hen as hen's can't be split Ino. (that's right isn't it, if we have started to get the genetics thing!!!!) l.o.l
April 4, 201312 yr Author That I do remember that a hen can't be split only visual we're getting there
April 23, 201312 yr Author More photos My favorite 5 month old YF hen she also helps me check the nest boxes and this is what we were looking at, a full box mum, dad and 4 babies Edited April 23, 201312 yr by Nadene
April 24, 201312 yr Beautiful budgies you have!!! I'm so jealous! Love that picture of your 5 month old checking the nest box with you. So cute! Keep up with the updates. Love all the photos!
April 24, 201312 yr Author Thank you Robyn and Rochelle. I kicked the eldest (which was the foster chick) out of the box today. It's nearly 5 weeks old and still acting like one of the younger babies, so he has his own house on the bottom of the cage.
May 1, 201312 yr Author The eldest chick and the first egg for round 2 was laid today (is anyone else having trouble with there posts? I can't use the enter button) Edited May 1, 201312 yr by Nadene
May 1, 201312 yr hey Nadene in the post box in the top left corner there is button that will edit the editing mode. Really handy when posting lots of photos, it will stop the photos from loading up and you can space out your photos easier then add captions.
May 6, 201312 yr Author Update on the 3 chicks from nest 1 chick 1 Chick 2 chick 3 Nest 2 pics to come Edited May 6, 201312 yr by Nadene
May 6, 201312 yr Beautiful chicks Nadene bet your proud of them, love the y.faced grey (No 2, if my guess is wrong). Were they from nest that Dad died? If so well done Mum.
May 6, 201312 yr Author Thank you Robyn. I'm very happy with them They are all grey greens but 1 and 3 are cinnamon and a bit lighter and 1 has a violet factor (I think) and if I'm right 1 & 3 will be hens because the parents were both normal like number 2 which I think is male. Yes this is the nest that the dad died. This was dad
May 7, 201312 yr 2nd look Nadene, no 2 could be a real "chip of the old block". Was he your show bird?(dad I mean)
May 8, 201312 yr Author He was my best show bird yet ( not that I've had that many) so I'm hoping the chicks will follow after him.
May 9, 201312 yr Author Nest 2 The grey I have already posted was a foster into this nest, so here are the rest
May 17, 201312 yr Author My babies in their own cage and now I have to be brave and get them ready to sell Edited May 17, 201312 yr by Nadene
May 17, 201312 yr Know the feeling Nadene, are you keeping your show bred offspring? I have 13 in kindy at the moment, had them out for flying lesson today, they were all fagged out when I put them back in and all nestled in for a snooze l.o.l. I have to decide which ones of these to keep as well. Ten more still is box's plus some eggs due next week.
May 17, 201312 yr Author I feel so guilty Robyn, I've never sold any of my babies before I'm keeping my grey green babies (they're showing good potential) and the lace wing (she's tooo cute). The grey sitting on the feed container is a full show bird and the other two are half. Good luck choosing your keepers because you have so many beautiful babies
May 17, 201312 yr Hi Nadene, Your babies are gorgeous. I know the feeling when selling the chicks. I want to keep them all, and if I don't, then my kids certainly do. They try to name them so that they can cry out "Oh Mum, you can't sell little Wilbur!". I have just chosen the 3 birds I am keeping from my last 12 chicks of the season, and have advertised the rest. Fortunately 2 have sold already to a very enthusuastic bird keeper and another 4 are moving 2 streets away to a lovely aviary - only 3 more to go. Good luck with yours. I am sure you will ensure that your chicks only go to good homes.

The first time I only one pair that had 2 chicks and I gave them to my mum so I still see the sometimes, then I had 4 chicks which I still have, they included my first show chicks and this time I have 7 and I have to get rid of some. I will also be getting rid of some of my older ones too.
