November 26, 201212 yr Hi it is hard to say for certain if it will just keep happening and you also don't know if the male is the cause of your problems. Make sure there is nothing disturbing them during the night like mice or rats. Give them both another chance but maybe with different partners then you may find who the trouble maker is. Cheers Jenny
November 27, 201212 yr Unless the hen was a cracker i wouldn't bother keeping or working with an egg eater. But i have in the past done the following & it works > assuming you have a concave in your nest box, take it out and place a nail in all corners of the concave so it is elevated then make a hole in the centre of the concave slightly larger than the size of a typical budgerigar egg then replace the concave in the nest box. After you have done that place some shavings below the concave to act as a cushion, then every couple of days simply remove the egg & place it under another pair.
December 6, 201212 yr Did she eat the eggs in the first round, too, or was there some other reason they didn't hatch?
