Did I read somewhere that birds that are split for pied have a clear spot on the back of their head?

And I think I just read something about the iris ring - that it's not unusual for a split bird to have the ring on one eye and not the other? I'm going to have to look in good light tomorrow, but I think he has the iris ring on the left, but not on the right.

What I can't remember, is if that was for dominant or recessive pied? I guess I'm not clear on what the dominant/recessive refer to... normal color?

Hi a head spot can be an indication of being split for recessive pied, a bird cannot be split for dominant pied it must show it visually.

As far as odd eye colour I have only seen it in dominant pieds.

He finally turned the other eye to the light, and there is a ring. But it does sound like he's split for recessive pied then. That's cool.

Yeah he is probably spit recessive pied as hilly said. My hen who is split recessive peid has no iris' only in the light can you see a very faint brown ring so it isn't odd at all. He also looks quite young still so maybe his mature eyes havent set in yet.

Kiwi is 4 years old.

Heres a picture of her(The normal green). Her sister Toshi is in the picture (Toshi is a recessive peid.)
