Posted September 26, 201212 yr Hi all, I'm still new to this forum so please forgive me if I'm posting this in the wrong category, but... I've been reading some stuff about how good it is to provide foraging toys to pet birds, but I can't seem to find many ideas for foraging toys for budgies. Does anyone know of anything? And also, if my budgie has never had food other than in his feed cup how could I introduce foraging toys to him and get him to try them out? Thanks
October 1, 201212 yr Hi A cheap but effective toy can be made from one of those plastic balls that contain a cheap child' s toy. You will find them in slot machines in or outside shops.. Throw away the toy inside & with a small nail burn several Millet size holes like a pepper pot. to play... You half fill it with millet seed put the two halves together. The bird learns that when he rolls the ball about seeds fall out. This will keep him amused.. You may have to show him how it works....B.J
October 3, 201212 yr Here is a link to an old topic by Chrysocome http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=27204&hl=foraging Here is another thread http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=28950&hl=foraging I think you can make things out of toilet paper tubes, too. Maybe stuff some paper and seeds inside it, tie it near a perch.
