Posted August 30, 201212 yr Just snapped a few pics of my new chick today. Also pictured it comparing it to her sibling. Was told by a friend that she is either a Cinnimon or Dilute full body Greywing. Still not sure but I think she is cute!!
August 31, 201212 yr One thing I can help you with the genetics, is that it would be impossible for a Full Body greywing to be a dilute. Genes come in pairs, so the bird can only have two copies of whatever type of greywing genes it has. Full body greywing means it is greywing/clearwing and dilute is only possible if both copies are dilute. So it can be one or the other, but not both. Looking at the photos, I would say it is NOT dilute. What were the parents?
September 1, 201212 yr Author Hello, Go to the thread in this topic "Surprise Chick Update: Plus Bonus Photos". I have pictures of her parents.
September 3, 201212 yr She doesn't look cinnamon or dilute but she IS opaline which will affect the way the wing markings look. I'd wager on greywing. Don't know about full bodied (greywing/clearwing) as many of them breed true with a full body colour anyway these days. Only test mating over time will work that one out. Just a thought...... what do cinnamon greywings look like?..........
September 4, 201212 yr Author I just looked up Cinnamon Greywing budgie mutations on google. I got no hits. I have a few friends who are really into budgies and the mutations. They all are confused about this chick. One swears it is Cinnamon and the othes say full body grey wing. But they all agree on one thing. She looks totally Neon. Which is funny cuz she looks like she almost glows in the dark. She is a very pretty birdie. I love her!! I was saying I hope I don't have a radio active toxic bird...LOL
