Posted August 28, 201212 yr So I brought Cass a mate and they have been happily sharing a cage for a month but lately she has been hiding out in the breeding box, she is in there as I type this, huddled up against the side wall with her tail in the air...is she preparing to lay? She will come out a couple times during the day and sits on the perches at night but most of the time during the day she is in the box. Can anyone shed some light for me?
August 28, 201212 yr Hello Is she in breeding condition. Have you seen any show of affection or any maying behaviour? If not remove the nest box till you do...B.J.
August 28, 201212 yr Author Yes they have been showing a lot of affection towards each other, he feeding each other not sure on the mating thou...i've seen her in position but not sure if he has successfully mounted her. Time will tell I guess!
August 28, 201212 yr Sounds like she may be ready to breed. Put a bit of wood shavings etc in box and see if she starts "cleaning" her nest out. That is if you want chicks, if not remove nest box.
